COLUMBUS – Clippers starter Peyton Battenfield gave up back-to-back home runs in the second inning as the Omaha Storm Chasers jumped our to an early lead and went on to beat Columbus 9-1 Wednesday night at Huntington Park.
Jackson Reetz hit a two-run home run off Battenfield (8-6) and Gabriel Cancel followed it up with a solo homer.
Omaha starter Austin Cox (7-7) held the Clippers to five hits over seven innings.
Oscar Mercado’s RBI doublebin the second inning accounted for the Clippers’ only run.
