COLUMBUS, Ohio – Two people are in the hospital, one of them charged with assault, after a neighborhood fight erupted in gunfire on a North Linden street last night.
According to witnesses, an argument that broke out between several neighbors in the 2400 block of Renwood Place at approximately 7:00 p.m. escalated into a fight during which several people pulled handguns and fired multiple gunshots into the crowd, detectives with the Columbus Police Assault Unit said.
Nyeema Smith, 38, was shot twice in the left arm and Timothy Cleaves, 24, was shot once in his left arm, police said. Both were transported to local area hospitals in stable condition.
Cleaves and Bill Barren, 25, who had fled the scene after the shooting but was later arrested, were both charged with three counts of felonious assault.
Two men were listed as victims in addition to Smith but were not described by police as being injured.
