COLUMBUS – The Clippers opened a three-game series in Gwinnett with a 3-2 loss to the Stripers Tuesday night at Coolray Field.
Petro Florimon hit a two-run home run to right field off Cam Hill (3-2) in the eighth inning to give the Stripers the lead and A.J. Minter notched his fifth save of the season, preserving the win for reliever Patrick Weigerl (6-1).
Ryan Flaherty’s two-run double to left in the top of the third accounted for the Clippers’ only runs and gave Columbus a 2-0 lead.
The series continues Wednesday night.
