COLUMBUS – The difference between life and death can come down to something as simple as asking: Asking for help or asking to help.

That is the message of the sixth annual Suicide Prevention Walk in Delaware Sept. 10.
“We want to encourage people struggling with suicide to ask for help,” said Michelle Price, chair of the Delaware Suicide Prevention Coalition. “And we also want bystanders to have the courage to ask someone who might be struggling if they need help.”
#Courage2Ask is the theme of the walk, which starts at 9:00 a.m. at Bicentennial Park. Register here.
The coalition is sponsored by HelpLine of Delaware and Morrow Counties, Inc., and the Delaware Morrow Mental Health and Recovery Services Board.
The suicide rate in Ohio is 12.57 per 100,000 residents, slightly better than the national rate of 12.93.
“We want to spread the message that it’s okay to talk about suicide. It takes a lot of courage to stand up and ask for help. That’s what this walk is all about,” Price said.
