Suspect charged in death of man who was set on fire

CIRCLEVILLE – Police in Circleville say a suspect has been arrested on an aggravated murder charge in the death of a man who was set on fire.

Police and fire officials responded to the reported smell of smoke and a possible fire in an apartment on W. Main Street Monday and found a man who had been assaulted and was on fire.

Circleville fire personnel transported the victim to Berger Ohio Health Hospital and life-flighted to the Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center where he died as a result of his injuries, Circleville police said on the agency’s Facebook page.

Police said Tuesday on Facebook that they have arrested Gregory Hardman on a charge of aggravated murder in the death.

Pickaway County Jail records don’t show a lawyer for the 33-year-old Circleville man, who police say may also face additional arson-related charges.

Authorities haven’t released the name of the man who died.
