COLUMBUS – A man is dead after being shot by a Columbus police officer on the West Side early Tuesday.
Officers attempting to arrest a suspect in a felony at an apartment at 3295 Sullivant Avenue at approximately 2:28 a.m. confronted the man inside the apartment and an officer fired their weapon, striking the man, Division of Police spokesman Sgt. Joe Albert said.
Officers administered rendered first aid until paramedics arrived and took the man to OhioHealth Grant Medical Center where he died, Albert said.
The Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation is conducting the investigation into the shooting.
The man’s identity was not released pending notification of his family, Albert said.
Teen recovering from gunshot wound
A 13-year-old is expected to recover after being shot in the face on the Hilltop early Tuesday.
Officers dispatched to the area of W. Broad Street and S. Harris Avenue on a reported shooting at 1:05 a.m. found the teen, who was taken by Columbus Division of Fire personnel to a hospital in stable condition, Sgt. Doug Jones of the Felony Assault Unit said.
