Suspect in double shooting arrested

COLUMBUS – A man wanted for a double shooting during a home invasion in December has been arrested after two months on the run.

Harry Lee Lathon Jr., 23, was charged with aggravated murder in connection with the shooting death of Jason Collins, 32, shot to death inside a home on N. Harris Avenue early in the morning of Dec. 13, Sgt. Dave Sicilian of the Homicide Unit said.

Joseph Collins, 35, was also shot during the apparent home invasion and was taken to Mt. Carmel West Hospital in serious condition, Sicilian said.

Lathon was seen driving away from the scene in a white Honda Odyssey and the charges were filed against him though he was not arrested until this week, Sicilian said.

Jason Collins was the 131st homicide victim in Columbus last year.
