Suspect in July murder arrested in WVA

COLUMBUS – One of two men wanted in the July slaying of a 29-year-old man on the West Side has been arrested in West Virginia.

Powell Littlefield was charged with murder in the fatal shooting of Edward Hunter during a fight on July 1 was arrested by U.S. Marshals in Morgantown, W. Va., Tuesday, according to Sgt. Edward Powell III of the Columbus Homicide Unit.

Logan Besse, 22, is also still listed as a person of interest in the death of Hunter, who was found at 945 Sullivant Avenue and died at the scene, Powell said.

Witnesses told investigators Littlefield pulled a handgun during a fight and fired several rounds which struck Hunter, Powell said.

The death of Hunter was the 100th homicide in Columbus in 2021.
