Suspect indicted on murder, arson charges in January slaying

COLUMBUS – Columbus police have charged a man with murder, arson and other crimes in the death of a man whose body was found in a burning vehicle on a Franklinton street in January.

Gregory Howard was indicted on Monday on charges of murder, arson, robbery and other offenses in connection with the death of Raymond Harris, 38, who had to be identified using dental records after Columbus firefighters found his body inside a burning vehicle in the 100 Block of Yale Avenue on Jan. 7, Sgt. David Shimberg of the Columbus police homicide unit said.

Harris had suffered a gunshot wound.

Gregory Howard, 34, is currently being held in the Franklin County Jail on a related robbery charge, Shimberg said.
