COLUMBUS – Two men wanted in connection with the murder of a 14-year-old in January were arrested Thursday in Detroit.
Aboubacar Toure, 19, and Sabab Islam, 18, both of Columbus, were located by U.S. Marshals and the Detroit Fugitive Apprehension Team and taken to the Wayne County Correction Center where they are awaiting extradition to Ohio to face murder charges in the shooting death of Dayvion Jones, who was gunned down on the Northeast Side on Jan. 24, said Sgt. Doug Jones of the Columbus police Homicide Unit.
Police say Jones was walking in 5300 block of Hazelwood Road just after 4:00 p.m. when he was confronted by a group of men in a stolen SUV. During the confrontation, one of the men shot Jones with a handgun.
Jones died later at Riverside Methodist Hospital while the suspects fled in the stolen SUV, finally wrecking it in a single-vehicle crash and running away, Jones said.
