Roddale Garmany was shot by an officer when he confronted police responding to a burglary report at the home on Karl Road at 12:43 p.m., Division of Police spokesman Sgt. James Fuqua said.
He was taken to Riverside Methodist Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries and has been charged with domestic violence and assault.
Officers were originally called to the address in the 4200 block of Karl Road on a report of a burglary in progress where the victim said an intruder claimed to have a gun and had threatened to shoot her, Fuqua said.
The report was called in by a friend of the victim, who sent a text asking the friend to call police because she needed help getting away from Garmany, 27, during a domestic disturbance, Fuqua said.
Police say the matter is under investigation by the. Columbus Division of Police Critical Incident Response Team and the Crime Scene Search Unit, Fuqua said.
