COLUMBUS – Police have arrested an East Side man and are looking for a second suspect in a shooting on a freeway that left one man dead and another injured and shut down the interstate for several hours earlier this month.
Javon Lyons and Robert Harris have both been charged with murder in the shooting death of Perry Tuttle, who was killed when someone opened fire on the vehicle he was riding in when both vehicles were speeding along the westbound lanes of I-70 between Hamilton and James roads early on the morning of July 15, according to homicide investigators.
Police say the incident began as a fight between groups at an east side establishment and moved to the freeway, where it ended in gunfire at approximately 2:30 a.m.
I-70 westbound was closed for several hours during the investigation (above).
Tuttle, 26, died later at the Grant Medical Center while Dorell Taylor, 25, was injured.
Detectives filed murder charges against Lyons, 22, and Harris, 32, on Wednesday and Lyons was arrested later at his home. He is in the Franklin County Jail while Harris remains at large and should be considered armed and dangerous, police said.
Anyone with information regarding Harris‘s whereabouts is asked to call the Columbus Police Homicide Unit at 614-645-4730 or Central Ohio Crime Stoppers at 614-461-TIPS.
