COLUMBUS – Authorities say they have recovered the body of a missing drowning victim from the Olentangy River but the search continues for his half-brother, missing and feared drowned in the same area.
The body was spotted in the river south of Goodale Boulevard Wednesday afternoon by a helicopter.
Teams have been searching since Saturday when Anthony Martin, 20, and his 18-year-old half-brother — Joseph Welch were swept over the Dodridge Dam near the OSU campus while swimming in the river.
Police did not say which man’s body was found Wednesday but WBNS 10-TV reported it was that of Martin.
Divers continued searching for Welch’s body.
The Columbus Dispatch reports the water level in the river had been lowered Tuesday to aid in the search, which had been hampered by high water and a fast current.
