Teachers strike settled

REYNOLDSBURG, Ohio – Classes were canceled in the Reynoldsburg City Schools Friday so teachers could set up classrooms and prepare for school on Monday after striking teachers and the school board approved a new contract, ending a three-week walkout.

The Reynoldsburg Board of Education unanimously approved the contract at a meeting Thursday evening. Teachers had already voted to approve it Thursday afternoon.

More than 360 members of the union representing teachers in the district of about 7,000 students had been on strike since Sept. 19.

The approved three-year contract addresses class sizes and provides cost-of-living raises for teachers.

Friday’s canceled classes will be made up on Nov. 3.
