COLUMBUS – A 14-year-old boy was treated for a gunshot wound to the head and released from the hospital, but was then arrested on outstanding felony warrants, police said.

Columbus Police Officers responding to a report that someone had been shot in the 3300 block of E. Broad Street just before 3:15 Tuesday afternoon found the teen suffering from a possible gunshot wound on the top of his head, according to Sgt. James Marable of the Felony Assault Unit.
He was transported to an area hospital in stable condition and was released after being treated only to be placed under arrest on unspecified charges.
The youth told police he was walking on Ashburton Road when a vehicle drove past him and the occupants opened fire on him.
He that he began running north on Ashburton Road at the first gunshot but wasn’t exactly sure of the location, Marable said.

Meanwhile, police are looking for a 21-year-old man in connection with the fatal shooting on the Northeast Side early Wednesday.
Officers dispatched on a report of a shooting victim lying in the street in the 3100 block of Ruhl Avenue at approximately 12:12 a.m. found Aljuanta Counts, 24, suffering from apparent gun shots wounds, Sgt. Doug Jones of the Homicide Unit said.
He was transported by Columbus fire personnel to a local hospital in life threatening condition and died at 1:13 a.m., Jones said.
An arrest warrant was issued for Shannon Weaver on a murder charge, Jones said.
This is the 63rd homicide of the year in Columbus.
