COLUMBUS, Ohio – A teenager was arrested Wednesday in connection with two attempted abductions in a single Fairfield County neighborhood over the summer.

NOTE: The Fairfield Co. Sheriff’s Office is offering a free women’s self-defense class on Saturday, Oct. 18, from 9:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at Violet Baptist Church, 8345 Blacklick-Eastern Road NW, Pickerington. Interested participants can register online.

The 15-year-old suspect was arrested without incident following a joint investigation with the Fairfield County Prosecutor’s Office and Sheriff’s Office, Sheriff Dave Phalen said.

The teenager is a suspect in two attempted abductions in the Violet Meadows subdivision on July 20 and September 20, Phalen said.

The suspect was taken to the Fairfield County juvenile detention center charged with two counts of kidnapping and two counts of abduction, Phalen said.

Phalen says residents of Violet Meadows helped authorities during the investigation.
