COLUMBUS – A 17-year-old has been jailed on a murder charge in connection with a deadly shooting at a West Side apartment complex earlier this month.

The teen was facing a murder charge in the Feb. 1 shooting death of Musa Aliyow in the Ashton Square Apartments, Sgt. Michael Smith of the Columbus police Homicide Unit said.

He was arrested by Columbus officers Wednesday afternoon on an unrelated incident and taken to the Franklin County Juvenile Detention Center, Smith said.

Officers responding to a report of a shooting found a crime scene in the 600 block of Countrybrook Drive East and determined that Aliyow, 20, had gone to the hospital with gunshot wounds and died on Feb. 9, Smith said.
