COLUMBUS – A 17-year-old is facing weapons charges after police say he brought a gun to school Wednesday morning.
Security staff and other personnel at Linden-McKinley STEM Academy, 1300 Duxberry Avenue, detained the student in the office and took possession of a SCCY 9mm pistol the boy had in his backpack, Sgt. Collins Kane of the Columbus police Gun Crimes Unit said.
Officers were called to the school at approximately 10:33 a.m. and, after meeting with school officials, charged the youth with carrying concealed weapons and conveying a firearm into a school safety zone, Kane said.
