COLUMBUS – A 16-year-old was treated for a gunshot wound to the head and then arrested, according to police.
Officers were dispatched to the Nationwide Children’s Hospital Emergency Room at approximately 9:44 a.m. on a report of a 16-year-old boy who walked into the hospital suffering from a gunshot wound to his head.
He was alert but did not provide officers with details surrounding the shooting as he was rushed into surgery, Det. Steven Kaethow of the Felony Assault Unit said.
The teen provided false information to responding officers concerning his identity and Kaethow says it was later discovered that he had several outstanding felony warrants so he was was arrested.
The victim is listed in serious but stable condition and is expected to survive his injuries, Kaethow said.
