COLUMBUS – A 17-year-old shot to death inside a Linden-area home Monday afternoon became the 88th homicide in Columbus in 2015.
Homicide detectives say officers found Jeremiah Harper inside the house at 1136 Duxbury Avenue, suffering from a gunshot wound, just before 1:00 p.m.
He died later at OSU Medical Center about a half-hour later, detectives said.
The Columbus Dispatch reports that police said they were called to the neighborhood by a young man who identified himself as Harper’s friend. Police say they were told that Harper was shot outside the home and ran inside.
Police Sgt. David Sicilian told WCMH-TV that some people were seen running eastbound from the scene apparently after some type of “verbal altercation.”
He said police had little to go on and no suspect description.
Anyone with information on this incident is asked to call the Columbus Police Homicide Unit at 614-645-4730 or Crime Stoppers at 645-TIPS.
