COLUMBUS – A 14-year-old murder suspect is in police custody after surrendering to authorities Wednesday night.
The teen was wanted in connection with a fatal shooting at a South Side McDonald’s earlier this month and he surrendered at the Franklin County Jail, police said.
Eric Lanning was charged with the murder of Christopher Mateen, who was found lying in the parking lot of the restaurant in the 3500 Block of S. High Street on the morning of Jan. 14 and died later at OhioHealth Grant Medical Center, Sgt. David Shimberg of the Homicide Unit said.
The initial investigation indicates that Mateen, 43, was trying to find his stolen vehicle when he was shot, Shimberg said.
