COLUMBUS – Police say a 15-year-old girl was killed when gunfire broke out during a fight at Franklin Park on the East Side Monday afternoon.
Lovely Kendricks was shot when two groups of girls reportedly got into a fight in the 1700 block of E. Broad Street at approximately 3:20 p.m. and she died later at a hospital, according to detectives with the Columbus police Homicide Unit.
Officers found Kendricks suffering from a gunshot wound and rendered first aid until paramedics arrived and took her to a hospital in critical condition.
This is the 110th homicide in Columbus in 2022.
The incident remains under investigation.
