Teen, woman slain Sunday

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Police in Columbus are looking for a suspect in a shooting at a North Side apartment complex early Sunday morning that left a 16-year-old boy dead.

Police say officers responding to reports of a brawl and gunshots in the area of 747 Polo Drive South at approximately 3:40 a.m. found Santos Hercules, suffering from a gunshot wound to the torso, Sgt. Jeffrey Strayer of the Homicide Unit said.

Hercules was taken to Riverside Hospital where Strayer says he died about an hour later.

Investigators are asking anyone with information about the incident to contact the Columbus Police Homicide Unit at 614-645-4730 or Crime Stoppers at 614-645-TIPS.

A man with a reported history as a sex offender was arrested after allegedly stabbing a woman to death in front of several witnesses on the Northeast Side Sunday afternoon.

Timothy Oller and Monica Davis were arguing in an alley in the 1400 block of Mt. Vernon Avenue shortly before 5:00 p.m. when witnesses say Oller, 36, pulled out a knife and stabbed Davis in the side, Strayer said.

The bystanders confronted Oller, who remained at the scene, Strayer said. He was charged with murder after Davis died of her injuries at Grant Medical Center at 7:40 p.m.

According to WBNS 10-TV, Oller was previously convicted of unlawful sexual conduct with a minor, domestic violence, assault and failing to register as a sex offender.

These were 21st and 22nd homicides of the year in Columbus, Strayer said.
