Teens arrested in fatal shooting

COLUMBUS – Two teenagers were charged with the murder of a man during a fight in a fast-food restaurant parking lot on the West Side last Tuesday.

Columbus police Homicide Unit investigators charged Nigel Jackson, 17, of the East Side, and Taysen Hixon, 15, of Galloway, with murder in the shooting death of Edwin Guerrero, 38, who was fatally shot in the parking lot of the Wendy’s restaurant at 1480 W. Broad Street.

Jackson was shot at the time of the incident and was charged when he was released from Mt. Carmel West Hospital Wednesday.

Hixon was arrested on Thanksgiving Day morning by Columbus SWAT officers at a relative’s house in Hilliard.

Police said the shooting apparently stemmed from a fight among two groups of people and the incident remains under investigation.
