COLUMBUS, Ohio – Two teenagers have been arrested following gunfire that wounded two people and sent shoppers scrambling at Eastland Mall Friday afternoon.
Columbus police say the Homer Hill, 18 and an unidentified 16-year-old are being held on charges of felonious assault after a Arthur Felder, 63, and a 17-year-old boy suffered gunshot wounds to their legs. They were treated at a hospital and police say their wounds weren’t considered life-threatening.
The Columbus Dispatch reports that police blame a clash between rival gangs that started over memorial T-shirts being made at a mall kiosk for fallen gang members.
Store employees around the mall quickly lowered security gates as shoppers took cover. Police were reviewing security camera videos and didn’t immediately release other details.
Eastland Mall was built in 1968 and was Columbus’ first enclosed mall.
