COLUMBUS – A West Side mom talked a carjacker into letting her children go before he drove off in her from a grocery store parking lot Tuesday morning.

Jessica Kohan was waiting with her three children for her groceries to be delivered to her car at the Kroger store at Hilliard Rome and Roberts Roads at 8:52 a.m. when Abdiaziz Mohamud approached her, implied that he had a firearm in his pocket and ordered her out of the car, said Sgt. Shaun Laird of the Columbus police Robbery Unit.
Mohamud, 23, saw her cell phone on the seat of the vehicle and demanded it. Laird says Kohan, 28, asked Mohamud if she could get her children out of the vehicle and he answered, “yes.” Kohan got the children and Mohamud drove away, finally He crashing on a closed section of I-70 eastbound in a construction zone east of Hilliard-Rome Rd and fled on foot, Laird said.
He was caught by patrol officers and Kohan was brought to the scene where Lair says shr made a positive identification.
Mohamud was charged with aggravated robbery.
