Tides 9, Clippers 3

COLUMBUS – After winning five straight on the road, the Clippers have lost two in a row at Huntington Park, dropping a 9-3 decision to the Norfolk Tides Tuesday night.

Michael Roth (6-3) took the loss after giving up five runs on 11hits during his 4-1/3 innings on the mound.

The Tides did most of their damage in the fifth inning, when they scored four runs, three of them on a home run to left field by Audry Perez.

The Clippers rallied with three runs in the sixth, led by Michael Martinez, who hit an RBI single and scored a run but Norfolk came back to score three more runs in the eighth off reliever Kyle Crockett.

Columbus has a chance to avoid a sweep in the final game of the three-game series Wednesday.
