COLUMBUS – The Buckeyes remained at No. 3 in the AP College Football Poll after surviving a comeback bid by Indiana on Saturday.
Head coach Ryan Day says he was “not pleased” with the team’s performance but is proud of the way his players have weathered the 2020 season, shortened and interrupted by COVID-19.
“We’ve played four games. It’s almost Thanksgiving, you know, and so it’s just very, very bizarre,” he told reporters after the game.
At 4-0 Ohio State is in sole possession of first place in Big Ten Eastern Division with three games to play, starting at Illinois (2-3) Saturday.
Alabama kept its No. 1 ranking, followed by Notre Dame and the Buckeyes.
Clemson’s game against Florida State was called off due to the virus but the Tigers remained at No. 4 and Texas A&M rounded out the Top 5.
The first College Football Playoff rankings of the season are due to be released Tuesday.
Florida was No. 6 and No. 7 Cincinnati and No. 8 BYU also held their spots, followed by Oregon and Miami in the Top 10.
Northwestern moved up eight spots to No. 11 after beating Wisconsin 17-7 to improve to 5-0. The Badgers (2-1 after cancelling two games due to COVID-19) fell to No. 18
The Hoosiers (4-1) dropped three spots to No. 12.
