Toppling stove kills Whitehall boy

WHITEHALL, Ohio (AP) – Police in Whitehall say a 4-year-old boy died when he apparently pulled a kitchen stove on top of himself.

Whitehall police and the county coroner identified the child in the Thursday afternoon accident as Carlos Mullins Jr.

The Columbus Dispatch reports that the child was pronounced dead at the apartment where the accident occurred around 2:00 p.m. Police at first thought the death was suspicious, but evidence seemed to indicate the boy died as a result of an accident with the stove.

The boy was home with his mother and a sibling at the time.

Police are still investigating and will wait for a coroner’s report before making a final ruling in the case.
