Trade sends Puig to Cleveland, Bauer to Cincy

CLEVELAND – The Reds and Indians will be swapping two of their most colorful players as part of a three-team trade.

The Indians have agreed to trade enigmatic pitcher Trevor Bauer to Cincinnati as part of the deal that includes San Diego while Cleveland would get slugger Yasiel Puig.

Bauer has been fined by Major League Baseball for heaving a ball from the pitcher’s mound over the center-field wall at Kansas City last weekend after manager Terry Francona emerged from the dugout to make a pitching change. Bauer turned, took a couple steps and threw the ball over the 410-foot mark.

Puig, meanwhile, spent his last night as a Red jumping into a brawl (above) that broke out in the ninth inning of an 11-4 loss to the Pirates, which ended Pittsburgh’s longest losing streak in eight years

Pitcher Amir Garrett rushed the Pirates’ dugout and threw punches, starting the donnybrook, which Puig prolonged.

Reds manager David Bell faces a suspension after running onto the field to join the fracas after being ejected an inning earlier, yelling at Pirates manager Clint Hurdle.

The trade also sends left-hander Scott Moss and outfielder Franmil Reyes to the Indians, who also receive lefty Logan Allen and infielder Victor Nova from the Padres. San Diego would get minor league outfielder Taylor Trammell from the Reds.
