LONDON – The National Weather Service says a tornado touched down in Madison County Monday afternoon but there were no immediate reports of damage or injuries.

Forecasters in the Wilmington office said they had video confirmation of the twister about 1 miles south-southwest of Lilly Chapel, 8 miles east of London, shortly before 5:00 p.m.
The weather service had issued tornado watches and warnings as well as severe weather and flood watches for a number of Ohio counties.
A record amount of rain — 2.33 inches — was recorded at John Glenn Columbus International Airport, breaking the old record of 1.47 inches set in 1927. It was the second-highest daily total ever for the month of May, the weather service reported.

Another record was set in the early-morning hours o Tuesday when 1.5 inches of rain was recorded.
A flood warning was issued from Tuesday afternoon until late Tuesday night for the Scioto River in Franklin County. At 9:00 a.m., the weather service reported that the level of the river was at 22 feet at Frank Road on the South Side. At 24 feet, flooding can be expected in southern Franklin County, including Franklin, Jackson and Marion townships.

Columbus fire personnel rescued about 20 residents trapped in their homes on Stormcroft Avenue on the Northeast Side, according to WBNS 10-TV.
Flooding closed sections of I-71 and the US 23/I-71 interchange on the South Side.
High water closed numerous streets and roadways, especially in Pickaway County where State Route 752 was closed between U.S. Route 23 and Long Street (see photo).
The Pickaway County Sheriff’s Office also reported the closures of Commercial Point Road was closed between Florence Chapel and State Route 104, N. Court Street between Bell Station Road and U.S Route 23 in Circleville and Island Road at the railroad underpass.
In Delaware County, State Route 315 was closed between State Route 750 and Home Road and State Route 3 was closed at Big Walnut Road due to high water.
