COLUMBUS – Two people have been arrested for the robbery and murder of a man who died after being dropped off at an East Side hospital earlier this month.
Janei Brightwell. 19, and Ciree Matthews, 21, were charged with the shooting death of Shai-Kee Shikary Ray Allen during a robbery on Dec. 17, homicide unit Sgt. Stanley Latta said.
At approximately 9:30 p.m. on Dec. 17, police were called to OSU East Hospital where Allen, 19, had been brought privately, suffering from a gunshot wound and in life-threatening condition, Latta said.
He was pronounced dead minutes later, s the 100th homicide of 2016 in Columbus.
Investigators discovered that Brightwell and Matthews had tried to rob Allen prior to the shooting, according to Latta.
They have both been charged with murder and aggravated robbery.
The case remains under investigation, Latta said.
