Two assault victims die of injuries

COLUMBUS – Two men who died after being assaulted on the city streets have become the 29th and 31st homicide victims of the year in Columbus.

Steven McClure, 54, died at 3:07 p.m. Monday of injuries suffered when he was assaulted on April 16 and 19-year-old Kyle Stewart died early Tuesday morning, hours after he was stabbed in the parking lot of an East Side strip mall, according to Homicide Unit detectives.

A South Side man who shot by his neighbor, who shot himself later, is the 30th homicide victim of 2019.

McClure was found lying on the street at the corner of S. 22nd Street and E Rich Street and Stewart was found in the parking lot of a business in the 3900 block of E. Livingston Avenue at 8:14 p.m. Monday and died shortly after 3:00 a.m. Tuesday, police said.

Investigators are still searching for motives and suspects in both crimes.
