COLUMBUS – A woman shot to death during a fight with her live-in boyfriend on the Hilltop Sunday afternoon was one of two people killed by gunfire in Columbus over the weekend.
Police say Tamieka Ross and Sinnea Thomas, who lived together in a home in the 700 block of Butler Avenue had been arguing during the day and the argument finally escalated into a fight and, just after 5:00 p.m., Thomas, 50, shot the 45-year-old Ross, fatally wounding her, Sgt. James Marable of the Columbus police Homicide Unit said.
Ross was pronounced dead at the scene and Thomas then left the scene but turned himself in at police headquarters later that night, Marable said.
A 33-year-old man died after being shot by an unknown assailant Friday, police said.
Officers were dispatched to the 3600 block of West Horizons Drive just after 5:30 p.m. to investigate an unknown complaint and while enroute, were informed that a shooting had occurred there, Sgt. Michael Smith said.
The officers found Justin Douglas, 33, suffering from a gunshot wound.
The officers rendered first aid prior to the arrival of paramedics who took Douglas to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead at 11:08 p.m.
A second man, 33-year-old Jazmene Kincannon, was also present at the time of the shooting.
UPDATE 2/8/23 9:42 a.m.: The suspect in this incident has been identified as Ron Robinson, 42. An arrest warrant has been filed on charges of murder and felonious assault.
This incident remains under investigation. Next of kin notification has been made.
