Two men dead in weekend shootings

COLUMBUS – A pair of fatal shootings over the weekend brought the number of homicides in Columbus in 2019 to 46.

Wiley Ross, 66, was found in a home in the 300 block of Stanaford Place, on the South Side, at 7:31 p.m. Saturday by officers dispatched to the area of E. Woodrow and S. 4th Streets on a report of multiple shots being fired, detectives said.

The Shotspotter location system determine that the incident had happened at the Stanaford Place address, where residents directed officers to Ross, who had been shot multiple times, police said.

He was pronounced dead at a hospital at 8:08 p.m.

The motive in this incident is still unclear at this time. The incident remains under investigation

A homeless man was arrested Sunday in connection with the shooting death of another man in a church parking lot in the Short North.

Kyshaun Brown, 27, was charged with murder in the death of Dishawn Jones, 25, just before 3:30 a.m., according to a report in The Columbus Dispatch.
