COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) – Cardale Jones has come a long way. The question now is: Can he take Ohio State a long way, too?
Jones, once almost kicked off the team for tweeting that classes were pointless, was a forgotten third-string quarterback just four months ago. Now he’s the central figure in the Buckeyes offense heading into their national semifinal game against Alabama at the Sugar Bowl on Jan. 1.
No one has ever doubted Jones’ talent. But there have been a lot of questions about his maturity, his intelligence and his backbone.
He provided a lot of answers with three TD throws in his first collegiate start against Wisconsin in the Big Ten championship game.
Now he knows people will be watching to see if he can do it again.
