COLUMBUS, Ohio – Winning college football’s national championship has earned Buckeye coach Urban Meyer greater job security and a heftier paycheck.
Meyer has received a contract extension through 2020 season that will make him the second-highest paid coach in college football, behind only Alabama’s Nick Saban.

“I am honored to serve as football coach at The Ohio State University and to represent this great university,” Meyer said in a statement release Monday.
His previous contract ran through the 2017 season and would have paid him $4.9 million for 2015.
Under the new terms and extension, he will make $5.8 million in total compensation for 2015. His contract will average at least $6.5 million a year over the next six years.
Meyer has led Ohio State to a 38-3 record and is 24-0 in Big Ten regular-season play. The Buckeyes defeated Oregon last season to win the first College Football Playoff.
