Several people were standing in the lot behind Club Déjà Vu, 985 Hudson Street, at around 10:30 p.m. when someone shot Stephen Tyrone Augustine from an alley a considerable distance away, Homicide Unit third shift supervisor Sgt. Jeff Strayer said.

It was unclear to investigators whether Augustine, 49, was actually the intended victim, Strayer said.

There is currently no known motive for the shooting and no known suspects. The investigation continues.

Augustine was taken by Columbus paramedics to Riverside Methodist Hospital where he was pronounced deceased at 11:10 p.m, the 59th homicide victim of the year in Columbus, Strayer said.

Anyone with information regarding the incident, is asked to call the Columbus Police Homicide Unit at 614-645-4730 or Central Ohio Crime Stoppers at 614-461-TIPS.
