COLUMBUS – A man who died almost a year after being assaulted in a Franklinton alley has become the 16th murder victim in Columbus this year.
Cameron Thurman was found in an alley north of the intersection of Wisconsin Avenue and W. Broad Street early on the morning of April 12, 2018, suffering injuries from an apparent physical assault.
Thurman, 57, was taken to Mount Carmel West Hospital where he died early Saturday morning, Homicide Unit Sgt. Jeffrey Strayer said.
The Franklin County Coroner ruled the death to be a direct result of the assault, initiating a homicide investigation, Strayer said.
Police did not reveal any suspects or motive in the beating.
