COLUMBUS – A man wanted on arrest warrants out of Virginia eluded authorities and held a Hilliard homeowner at gunpoint before being captured Friday.

Members of the Southern Ohio Felony Apprehension Strike Team were in the Hilliard Rome Road area, attempting to serve multiple felony warrants on Christopher Demoranville, when Demoranville slipped away and fled into the residential area near the Heritage Golf Club and Franks Park, Columbus Division of Police spokesman Sgt. David Pelphrey said.
Officers from Hilliard and Columbus, along with Franklin County Sheriff’s Office deputies and officers from other jurisdictions joined in in the search for Demoranville, who forced his way into a home on Andrew James Drive where he held the homeowner at gunpoint, demanded clothing and continued to flee on foot, Pelphrey said.
Columbus Police SWAT Officers searching the area nearby noticed a door which appeared to have been forced open and, as they entered the home, also on Andrew James Drive, they found Demoranville, who was taken into custody, Pelphrey said.
Demoranville was charged with aggravated robbery for the armed encounter with the homeowner and will face extradition for the Virginia warrants.
