The Great Vacations Travel Expo, presented by AAA, this weekend at the Greater Columbus Convention Center marks the nationwide debut of the auto club’s Road Adventures.
The auto club is offering travelers a chance to hit the open road with updated versions of some of the most iconic travel trailers in motoring history.
After the January launch of the first location in Columbus, four more locations will open 2016, with 25 locations expected to open across the US within the next three years.
The Wi-Fi-enabled Road Adventures rental trailers come with professional set-up training, roadside assistance and on-the-road support apps and videos. Built-in satellite sensors let the motorist and AAA roadside assistance teams know where the trailer is, which means the adventurer is never lost, no matter how lost they are.
The AAA’s trip planning and concierge services help travelers find campsites, attraction passes, excursions and other elements of the perfect road trip.
The Road Adventures features a variety of new trailers and campers from well-known manufacturers, including the teardrop-shaped, 1940s-inspired trailers; the 1950s-themed Gulfstream Cruisers; the bullet-shaped, 1920s-style Airstream Flying Cloud (above) and driveable motorhome trailers.
Rentals range from $797 for a week’s rental of the basic “tow-and-go” up to $6,997 for a 26-foot Airstream Flying Cloud with a GMC Yukon tow vehicle. All rentals come stocked with dishes, linens and other amenities.
