Walmart debuts curb service

COLUMBUS – The nation’s largest retailer – and its largest grocer – is ready to offer central Ohio shoppers the chance to stock up on groceries without ever entering the store.

Walmart announced it will launch its online grocery pickup service at four Columbus-area stores on May 25. Customers can order groceries online or with the chain’s grocery mobile app and pick their purchases up at one of four area stores without getting out of their vehicles/

“Our customers have told us that grocery pickup is a game changer,” said Josh Nungesser, manager of the Grove City Walmart Supercenter, one of the participating stores. “They are now able to complete their grocery shopping in a matter of minutes, between errands or on their way home from an after school activity, without even unbuckling their seat belts.”

The four participating locations are:
Walmart Supercenter, 1221 Georgesville Road, Columbus
Walmart Supercenter, 5200 West Pointe Plaza, Hilliard
Walmart Supercenter, 1693 Stringtown Road, Grove City
Walmart Supercenter, 8659 Columbus Pike, Lewis Center

Shoppers log onto walmart.com/grocery or the Walmart Grocery mobile app, enter their zip code to select a local store and begin creating their shopping list from 30,000 items. When they check out, they select a time to pick up their orders, according to a release from the company.

Personal shoppers fill the order and, when the customer arrives for pickup, there will be reserved parking spaces and a telephone number to call to alert an employee who loads the groceries into the customer’s car.
