Warm weather could bring floods, wind

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The weather over the next couple of days may remind us of spring, but so will the weather-related problems, like flooding, thunderstorms and damaging winds.

Warmer temperatures and a possibility of heavy rainfall could lead to flooding in parts of Ohio this week. The National Weather Service says the danger for flooding will depend on how much and how fast the rain falls during a Thursday thunderstorm. Meteorologists currently are expecting up to an inch and a half of rain in parts of the state.

Highs across the state will be in the 40’s and 50’s today and will reach up to the low 60’s in southern Ohio on Thursday ahead of the storm and a cold front, according to ABC6/FOX28 meteorologist Dana Turtle.

Strong to severe storms will be possible into Thursday evening with damaging winds being the primary threat

Any flooding is likely to hit northern Ohio worse, where more snow is melting amid higher temperatures this week.

Turtle says temperatures will drop back into the mid-30’s on Sunday and much of next week will be cold again with highs only in the lower 30’s, well below average.

Forecasters say the storm also could bring damaging winds and will be followed by a cold front.
