Warmer temperatures won’t last long

COLUMBUS, Ohio – A break from the bitter cold weather will be short-lived for central Ohioans.

As much as 5 inches of snow fell in central Ohio on Saturday and another 3 inches was forecast for Sunday, accompanied by high winds, blowing and drifting.

A Level 2 snow emergency was declared for hazardous road conditions by Franklin County Sheriff Zach Scott on Sunday. Level 2 snow emergencies were also declared in Delaware, Fairfield and Union counties. Under Level 2 emergencies, unnecessary travel is discouraged.

ABC6/FOX28 meteorologist Dana Turtle says Sunday’s highshighs could reach above freezing but another system will roll in Sunday evening, likely starting off with rain or sleet before switching to snow overnight into Monday morning. Turtle says another 1 to 3 inches of snow is possible by the Monday morning commute.

And there’s more bad news: Much of next week looks even colder than this week, says Turtle.
