Warning: Bullets that go up come down with deadly force

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Columbus police are mounting an all-out campaign to discourage a dangerous way of celebrating the New Year.

The Division of Police is using outdoor and electronic media to remind us that what goes up must come down and that includes bullets fired into the air to mark the arrival of the New Year.

Police remind residents that, while it seems like celebratory firing of a gun into the air is harmless, the bullets actually come down with enough force to cause a deadly injury.

They are trying to get the message out using seven billboards at various locations around Columbus:

Dublin Road at Grandview Avenue.
Georgesville Road south of W. Broad (across from Hollywood Casino)
Spring Street at Fifth Street (downtown)
Olentangy River Road south of Fifth Avenue (at Bob Evans)
Wilson Road at Fisher Road (N/E corner)
Lane Avenue east of North Star Avenue (north side of Lane)
Bethel Road at Godown Road (S/E corner)
