Warrants detail child porn activity linked to meteorologist

COLUMBUS – Search warrants unsealed in Franklin County Municipal Court Wednesday have shed a little light on the scope of the child pornography case against former TV meteorologist Mike Davis.

The court documents show investigators tracking Davis’ email tallied 15,912 images of suspected child pornography downloaded over a period of nearly seven years, according to reports in The Columbus Dispatch and on WBNS 10-TV.

Davis, 60, pleaded not guilty last month to four counts of pandering sexually-oriented matter involving a minor. He remains free on bond.

When Davis was indicted, prosecutors said he downloaded and emailed the images detailed in the indictments to himself between October 2018 and this September.

Davis worked at WBNS-TV in Columbus more than three decades. He was fired after his arrest in September.

Franklin County Prosecutor Ron O’Brien said a county task force began investigating Davis after receiving a tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children that an email address linked to Davis had downloaded a significant amount of suspected child pornography.
