WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – The Buckeyes opened their Big Ten women’s basketball season with a 70-53 win on the road at Purdue Sunday.
Taylor Mikesell and Braxtin Miller led Ohio State with 16 points16 apiece and Mikesell recorded the Buckeyes’ first double-double of the season, adding 10 rebounds.
Rebeka Mikulášiková added 13 points and Jacy Sheldon scored 12.
Mikesell, Miller and Sheldon continued their streaks of scoring in double figures in each game this season.
Ohio State (6-1, 1-0) led by only two points at halftime but opened the second half with the first eight points on the floor to extend the lead to double figures.
The Boilermakers (6-3, 0-1) got to within five points at the end of the third quarter but the Buckeyes pulled away.
