COLUMBUS – Kelsey Mitchell scored a season-high 37 points and the Buckeye defense stepped up down the stretch to secure a key 78-71 overtime victory at No. 22 Michigan on Sunday.
Mitchell scored 27 of her 37 points after halftime, including nine of the 14 points in the extra session, as No. 10 Ohio State beat their rivals from up north for the fourth straight game.
The Buckeyes limited one of the better three-point shooting teams in the league to just 4-of-15 for the game. Hallie Thome had 27 points and Katelyn Flaherty scored 22 but no other UM player finished in double-figures.
The Buckeyes (15-2, 4-0 Big Ten) will have the next week off before traveling to Indiana on Saturday (Noon/BTN).
