COLUMBUS – Number 5 Ohio State moved into a three-way tie for first place in the Big Ten after beating Purdue 90-70 Sunday.
Kelsey Mitchell scored 27 points, and Ameryst Alston added 25 for the Buckeyes (13-4, 5-1 Big Ten), who snapped Purdue’s nine-game winning streak moved into a three-way tie atop the Big Ten standings with the Boilermakers (14-3, 5-1) and Maryland (16-2, 5-1).
Shayla Cooper scored 16 points off the bench, sinking all four of her 3-pointers, including three in the third quarter when Purdue was trying to chip away at an Ohio State lead that was nine points at the half.
The Buckeyes closed the first quarter on a 10-0 to open up a 24-14 lead and never trailed again.
The closest Purdue would get was within four points early in the third quarter.
