COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Buckeyes won their third straight game, beating Penn State 88-70 in women’s basketball at State College, Pa., Thursday.
Ameryst Alston led all scorers with 23 points, including four three-pointers, and dished-out seven assists. Alston has 98 points and 28 assists in the last four games for the Buckeyes (20-9, 12-5).
The Buckeyes reeled off eight straight points to turn a six-point halftime lead into a 44-30 advantage and the Nittany Lions were never able to get any closer than nine points.
Freshman Kelsey Mitchell finished the night with 18 points three of them from beyond the three-point arc, which gives her 107 on the season. That sets a new OSU single-season record
The Buckeyes will close out the regular season on Sunday with a trip to Nebraska. They have lost five straight games to the Cornhuskers.
The Big Ten Women’s Basketball Tournament is March 4-8 in Hoffman Estates, Ill.
